Our Fertilization Program
Tradition Fertilization Program
From balanced nutrition to comprehensive weed control and season-long turf-damaging insect control, our customized traditional (6)-round lawn program is designed to provide everything a lawn needs to look as good as possible all season long while being able to withstand and recover quickly from any adverse conditions such as heat, drought, or fungus. This six-step program consists of (5) balanced lawn feedings with micronutrients, (1) organic soil amendment, (4) grassy and broadleaf weed controls, (1) season-long grub control, which also protects against other lawn pests, and (1) maintenance lime.
Organic Fertilization Program
This program is designed for properties where pesticide use will not be tolerated. Although some weeds and possible insect damage may occur with this program, our customized (6)-round organic, pesticide-free program is designed to minimize this potential. We aim to accomplish this by providing balanced lawn nutrition along with organic soil amendments, which create a dense, healthy lawn that can, in turn, choke out invasive weeds and withstand or recover from turf-damaging insects. This 6-step program consists of (5) balanced lawn feedings with micronutrients, (2) organic soil amendments, and (1) maintenance lime.
Hybrid Fertilization Program
The customized (6)-round hybrid lawn program is a blend of our traditional and pesticide-free programs. This program is designed to use fewer pesticides than our traditional program while still providing season-long balanced lawn nutrition, good weed control, and protection against turf-damaging insects. While your lawn may have a few more weeds than our traditional program, it provides the best of both worlds regarding overall lawn appearance with reduced pesticide use. This 6-step program consists of (5) balanced lawn feedings with micronutrients, (1) organic soil amendment, (3) grassy and broadleaf weed controls, (1) season-long grub control, and (1) maintenance lime.
Additional Services Offered to Current Fertilization Customers
Soil Testing
It all starts from the ground up when it comes to lawn health. Our soil testing service allows us to evaluate the overall health of your soil by taking a composite sample of your lawn’s soil. Through a soil test, we can identify deficiencies or problems and recommend any actions that can be taken to improve your soil, providing the best possible growing conditions for your lawn. We recommend this service for all new customers every 3-5 years for existing customers.
Core Aeration
An extremely beneficial cultural turf practice, core aeration is the process of mechanical removal of approximately 2” plugs of soil throughout your lawn using specialized turf equipment. This process allows for better airflow, water penetration and root depth while relieving detrimental soil compaction and removal of excessive thatch. All of which greatly increase your lawns’ overall health and sustainability. Aeration is generally completed late Summer through early Fall and is recommended a minimum of every (3) years and more often for customers with the highest expectations.
Overseeding
Overseeding is the process of adding new seeds to your lawn’s profile. It is designed to improve lawn density and/or lawn recovery. Overseeding also allows us to incorporate the newest and best seed cultivars and species into your lawn and to select the best grass varieties for your specific lawn site. Overseeding is generally done in conjunction with core aeration and/or compost topdressing as both provide an optimal seed bed.
Compost Topdressing
Compost topdressing is the cultural process of adding a thin layer (1/4” – 1/2″) of clean high-end compost to your lawn. Our compost adds beneficial organic matter and microbes to your soil’s profile and contains many micronutrients essential for good lawn health. Compost topdressing provides both immediate and long-term benefits for your lawn, such as improved water retention during times of drought and better drainage during wet periods, improved nutrient uptake, increased root depth, reduction of harmful excessive thatch, and more. It is proven to be a great way to ensure the establishment of a new lawn, works great to improve trouble spots on lawns, and should also be considered as a less invasive, more cost-effective alternative to installing a brand new lawn.
Slice Seeding
Slice seeding is a process completed by a specialized turf machine which slices shallow grooves to optimal seed depth in your soil while dropping desirable grass seed at the same time. Slice seeding is a great way to recover damaged or thin spots in your lawn or to incorporate newer seed varieties into your lawn. As with most seeding practices late Summer through middle Fall is the best time to complete this service.
